Cardiovascular disease
What is hyperlipidemia?
It is a condition in which cholesterol, triglycerides, or both together rise in the blood.
Caution is needed if total cholesterol is 240mg/dl or higher, or triglycerides are 200mg/dl or higher.
Hyperlipidemia symptoms
In itself it causes no particular symptoms, so it is hard to notice.
It is detected by a blood test; hyperlipidemia is also a driver of atherosclerosis, and symptoms appear only once vascular disease (angina, stroke) develops.
Hyperlipidemia diagnosis
-
Cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood
-
HDL cholesterol test
-
LDL cholesterol test
Hyperlipidemia treatment

Prescribing the right medication for the patient's condition is important, and lifestyle improvement is needed.
