In-depth Health Screening
For workers affected by night shifts, long working hours, job stress and the like,
To prevent cerebro-cardiovascular disease (stroke, myocardial infarction, angina, etc.)
the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency provide support for in-depth health screening.
What is in-depth health screening?
Support for health examinations centred on cerebro-cardiovascular test items for workers at high risk of cerebro-cardiovascular disease, such as those with diabetes or hypertension
Eligibility
Employee subscribers to national health insurance (industrial accident insurance) who are workers at high risk of cerebro-cardiovascular disease, such as those with hypertension or diabetes (including workers in special types of employment), and who meet one or more of the conditions below

- If you have one or more of the cerebro-cardiovascular disease risk factors below
- Systolic blood pressure of 140mmHg or higher, or diastolic blood pressure of 90mmHg or higher
- Fasting blood glucose 126mg/dl or higher
- Total cholesterol of 240mg/dl or higher, or LDL of 160mg/dl or higher, or triglycerides of 200mg/dl or higher
- Obesity (BMI 30 or higher) or abdominal obesity (men 90cm or more, women 85cm or more)

- Cerebro-cardiovascular disease risk assessment result of high risk or above

- General screening showing a 10-year cerebro-cardiovascular disease risk of 5% or higher
- 4
- Those referred by a doctor at a Workers' Health Center as needing an In-depth Health Screening following a health consultation

- Aged 55 or older
- 6
- Those given a CN or DN result on a special health examination for night work
- 7
- Labor Standards Act Article 53(4) (approval of special extended work)
- 8
- Those subject to Article 59 (special-exception industries)

- If you meet one or more of the conditions below, additional tests beyond the basic test items are supported for those who wish to have them. (Choose 1)

- Where an examinee is assessed as high-risk on the basic tests of the In-depth Health Screening and further testing is deemed necessary in the doctor's opinion, additional support is provided for detailed testing
- Two health counseling visits are required after optional tests!
Support for in-depth health screening costs
The basic In-depth Health Screening costs 195,000 won, of which the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency covers 80%; you pay only your own co-payment of 39,000 won (20%) to the screening institution.
Co-payments for optional In-depth Health Screening items: echocardiography 25,000 won, coronary CT angiography 40,000 won, cerebrovascular MRA 40,000 won (available only if the basic In-depth Health Screening identifies you as high-risk)
Health counseling is provided free of charge
If follow-up care is needed based on the examination results, or if you wish to have one, a free health consultation with a specialist is provided.
Very high-risk group: up to 10 sessions; on request: up to 5 sessions
* Cost support for the health consultation is not available where treatment, prescription or testing is carried out in addition to the consultation
Precautions before your health examination

- Apply via the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency website (www.kosha.or.kr) or in writing

- In-depth Health Screening is available only to those who apply to the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (KOSHA) and are approved by the agency.

- Confirm the screening appointment date after checking the list of eligible participants

- Check and prepare documents proving that you meet the requirements before your visit

- Be sure to bring your ID to your visit

- Fast for at least 8 hours before the test
