Exercise rehabilitation

What is exercise rehabilitation?

For patients with disc herniation, joint disease, sequelae of cerebral infarction and cerebral hemorrhage, Parkinson's disease, hemiplegia, spinal cord injury and central nervous system damage, we are equipped with state-of-the-art exercise therapy systems and offer a scientific, integrated program from assessment through treatment. Above all, we work to resolve the underlying cause of pain through rehabilitation programs tailored to each person's symptoms.

Conditions treatable with rehabilitative therapy

Equipped with university-hospital-grade exercise machines, the St. Peter's Hospital Exercise Rehabilitation Center relieves pain and prevents recurrence through precise rehabilitative therapy and one-on-one exercise prescriptions from rehabilitation medicine specialists, helping patients continue a normal daily life after treatment.

At the Exercise Rehabilitation Center we do not stop at relieving and treating pain; even after the program ends we provide continuous care every 1~3 months, aiming for lifelong health.

Exercise rehabilitation process

At the St. Peter's Hospital Exercise Rehabilitation Clinic, physiotherapists and medical trainers who have completed specialized treatment training help patients recover quickly, working from the diagnoses and prescriptions made directly by specialists from 15 departments, including neurosurgery, orthopedics and rehabilitation medicine.
We provide a wide range of patient-centered, one-on-one tailored care, including neurological and musculoskeletal examinations, occupational therapy, dysphagia therapy, pain relief therapy, joint rehabilitation, manual therapy and strength training.

Rehabilitation exercise therapy

Through a wide range of equipment-based assessments and exercise devices, and through continuous research and development of our programs, we work to help patients suffering from illness recover quickly.

Anti-Gravity Treadmill gravity-controlled gait rehabilitation system

The newly upgraded Anti-Gravity powered orthopedic exercise device uses DAP (Differential Air Pressure / air pressure control system) technology developed by the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). To restore the muscle and joint function of the lower body weakened by surgery or trauma, it reduces each individual's body weight load by up to 1%~80%, lessening the load placed on the joints during walking, running and closed-kinetic chain exercise and slowing gravitational loading. It is the only gravity-controlled gait rehabilitation system that allows fast and safe rehabilitation exercise.

A newly developed touchscreen provides simplified visual feedback in real time on gait symmetry, pain level and more, helping users and patients improve their exercise capacity.

This state-of-the-art equipment supports a wide range of rehabilitation: artificial joints and lumbar disc herniation, rehabilitation after surgery, stabilization and strengthening of the joint muscles (ankle, knee, pelvis, spine), rehabilitation after lower-limb surgery (hip, knee, ankle, foot), and recovery of neuromuscular control and balance.

Anti-gravity gait correction exercise

G-TRAINER (anti-gravity gait correction exercise)

Because of post-operative pain, most rehabilitation exercises are done lying down, which can delay recovery or, in severe cases, lead to recurrence. The G-Trainer solves this problem: developed by NASA to help keep astronauts healthy, it has also earned FDA approval.

The G-Trainer uses an air pressure control system that removes the effect of gravity entirely, easing the load on the spine and joints, so patients can stand and begin rehabilitation training immediately after surgery and correct faulty gait habits via the monitor. It is excellent equipment not only for disc treatment but also for knee joint treatment, muscle strength and conditioning in older people, and treatment of sports injuries.

Traction gait exercise

(UNWEIGHTING)

It was developed to minimize the body weight placed on the spine, correcting posture and improving gait in spinal conditions such as disc herniation and scoliosis.

Like the weightless environment of space, it lowers the pressure inside the disc so that nerve compression eases and nerve pain disappears, and it allows active exercise to be combined with traction, overcoming the drawbacks of passive (static) traction therapy.

Transcranial magnetic stimulator

(TMS)

TMS magnetic therapy uses a magnetic field to stimulate the local cerebral cortex non-invasively, without anesthesia or incision, | treating a range of neurological conditions such as headache, tinnitus and depression.

Spinal muscle function test

(MedX)

The MedX non-surgical spine exercise equipment for lumbar disc herniation was developed over 20 years of research by MedX in the United States and the spine health research institute of the University of Florida College of Medicine, and has two functions: testing back function and strengthening the back muscles.

Joint muscle function test

An advanced diagnostic system that compares, observes and diagnoses — before and after treatment — the functional imbalances of muscle and nerve caused by spinal and joint disease or by a patient’s poor everyday habits, providing important information for the prevention of the spinal and joint disorders that are receiving growing attention. By selectively applying Dynamic EMG / Algometer, it diagnoses the functional state of the muscles and nerves that is key to diagnosing disorders of the spine and joints and of the anatomical structures supporting the body — bone, muscle, ligament and tendon — thereby analyzing patterns of functional imbalance in the muscles that support the spine and joints as a result of degeneration or injury, and enhancing the effectiveness of treatment.

Whole-body 3D scanner

There is no radiation or laser exposure, a 360 degree whole-body scan takes only about 10 seconds, and body shape and left-right balance are measured and analyzed at the same time. This supports body management for patients with obesity or diabetes, tracks progress through rehabilitation, and makes it possible to identify in advance the pain, after-effects and other conditions that may arise from postural imbalance.

Surface electromyography (EMG)

By detecting the electrical signals generated in muscles, it measures muscle imbalance and tension, and by identifying the characteristics of the muscles around the spine in particular, it allows an exercise prescription tailored to each patient.
