St. Peter's Hospital (President Yoon, Kangjun), a general hospital focused on spine, joint and cerebro-cardiovascular care, announced on the 19th that it presented a plaque of appreciation to Happycall founder Lee Hyun-sam, who donated 30 million won to support surgery and treatment for epilepsy patients.
The plaque presentation ceremony, held on the 18th in the seminar room of St. Peter's Hospital, was attended by about 20 people, including President Yoon, Kangjun, Administrative Director Yoon Min-ha, Lee, Choon Sung of the Spine Center, Hong Seung-bong of the Epilepsy & Sleep Center, Yang Kyu-hyung of the Fracture & Trauma Center, and Jeon Dong-sik, head of the management support division.
Lee Hyun-sam is a self-made figure well known as the founder of the world's first double-sided frying pan brand. Since selling his company, which had annual revenue of 200 billion won, in 2016, he has drawn public attention for emphasizing the importance of more essential values in life, health among them.
Mr. Lee Hyun-sam first came to know St. Peter’s Hospital through Director Lee, Choon Sung of the Spine Center. As he and his family received treatment at St. Peter’s Hospital, he was impressed by the excellent medical staff and treatment infrastructure, and he came to share the philosophy of President Yoon, Kangjun, who has put patient-centered care and the value of sharing medical care into practice. Wishing also to join the hospital in its commitment to strengthening the local medical safety net, he decided to make this donation.
The donation gained added meaning as Yoon, Kangjun, President of St. Peter's Hospital, joined in, sharing the same intent. Adding 30 million won of his own to the 30 million won donated by Lee Hyun-sam, he created a fund totaling 60 million won. In line with Lee's wishes, the fund will be used to support surgery and treatment for epilepsy patients who urgently need an operation but are in financial difficulty.

St. Peter's Hospital carries out a range of social contribution activities, including donations and medical support, to help close gaps in community healthcare. It has steadily provided community medical support such as Comprehensive Health Screening for low-income vulnerable households and health and welfare support for seniors, and has taken the lead in giving — receiving the Red Cross Honorary Membership Medal for its continued donations.
Lee Hyun-sam said, “I decided to make this donation in the hope that it will help the recovery of epilepsy patients who struggle with treatment because of cost and circumstances.” He added, “I want to keep living a life of giving, adding a little warmth wherever society needs it most.”
Yoon, Kangjun, President of St. Peter's Hospital, said, “We will make sure this donation is put to good use supporting epilepsy patients in urgent need of surgery and treatment, so that it becomes an even more meaningful act of sharing.” He added, “As a leading general hospital in the Gangnam area, we will continue to actively support underserved areas of care and to share medical resources with our community.”
