For Christmas, St. Peter's Hospital donated 100 sacks of ‘sharing rice’ for vulnerable members of the local community.
St. Peter's Hospital announced that it donated 100 sacks of ‘sharing rice’ at Christmas to support the local community.
On the 22nd, St. Peter's Hospital visited Yangjae-dong Catholic Church in Seocho-gu, Seoul, and donated 100 sacks of rice as a warm gesture of sharing. Through Yangjae-dong Catholic Church, the rice will be delivered to vulnerable households in the area, including seniors living alone and low-income families facing financial hardship or in need of help.
The donation was made as part of the ‘Warm Sharing Project’, a social contribution initiative St. Peter's Hospital has continued for more than 22 years. Every year-end, St. Peter's Hospital steadily carries out the Warm Sharing Project for marginalized groups. Going beyond one-off donations of goods, it has provided sustained, practical support centered on essential daily necessities such as briquettes and rice, to help stabilize the lives of vulnerable people who face heavy living costs in winter.
St. Peter's Hospital also carries out a range of other social contribution activities as the region's leading general hospital, including scholarships and free screening for middle and high school students and support for comprehensive health screening for vulnerable households in the district. It recently signed an agreement with Dogok 1 Senior Welfare Center, where President Yoon, Kangjun personally serves as contract physician to manage the health of local seniors on a regular basis, taking the lead in ‘on-site’ medical support that reaches beyond the consultation room.
Yoon, Min Ha, Administrative Director of St. Peter's Hospital, said, “Fulfilling social responsibility to close welfare blind spots in the community is, I believe, one of the important roles of a regional hub medical institution,” adding, “I hope this act of sharing becomes a small hope for a better life for neighbors in the community who are struggling.”
Yangjae-dong Catholic Church said, “We are deeply grateful to St. Peter's Hospital for practicing sharing for the local community without fail every year,” adding, “We will deliver the rice we received first to the neighbors most in need, so that warmth can be spread throughout the community.”
