St. Peter's Hospital is setting out to support the health of older residents in Gangnam-gu with hands-on medical care led by the hospital director himself.
St. Peter's Hospital (President Yoon, Kangjun), a general hospital focused on spine, joint and cerebro-cardiovascular care, announced on the 26th that it has signed an MOU with the Dogok 1 Senior Welfare Center to support health management for older people in the community and will begin providing medical support on site.
The signing ceremony, held on the 25th in the seminar room of the Dogok 1 Senior Welfare Center, was attended by key figures from both sides, including Yoon, Kangjun, President of St. Peter's Hospital; Bae Pal-myeon, Director of External Relations; and Ha Su-hyun, head of the Dogok 1 Senior Welfare Center.
The agreement goes beyond a simple institutional partnership, aiming to establish a health support system closely tied to the daily lives of older people in the community. Accordingly, the two institutions will cooperate broadly to support health management in later life for older members of the community, covering ▲regular physiotherapy prescriptions ▲support for health education for older residents ▲ joint support in other areas as needed.
The heart of this agreement is that the hospital director himself is taking part in managing the health of older people in the community. Drawing on his professional insight into geriatric care, Yoon, Kangjun, President of St. Peter's Hospital, has been appointed commissioned physician of the Dogok 1 Senior Welfare Center and will look after older residents' everyday health on the front line himself.
To this end, President Yoon, Kangjun and other hospital clinicians will visit the welfare center regularly from December to provide physiotherapy for its older members. Taking into account the health of older people, who are vulnerable to musculoskeletal disease, chronic pain and other conditions, the aim is to provide more specialized pain management and rehabilitation services and to support systematic health management.
Yoon, Kangjun, President of St. Peter's Hospital, said, "This agreement and my appointment as commissioned physician allow us to provide practical medical support for older people in the community, beyond the consultation room," adding, "Rather than stopping at clinical support, we will look after their health with the mindset of a family doctor, so that together we can build a lively, healthy later life for older people in our community."
Ha Su-hyun, head of the Dogok 1 Senior Welfare Center, said, "Cooperation with St. Peter's Hospital, a hub hospital in the Gangnam area, will be a great support for the older people who use our center," adding, "We hope their quality of life will rise further on the back of professional medical support."
